A couple weeks ago, I shared my birth story. Now my little girl is 6 months and I’ve had to find ways to take care of myself in little ways. I wanted to share 9 self-care ideas that only take 10 minutes, but can help charge up your batteries, even just a little bit!

1. Brush your teeth
I know, you’re probably thinking to yourself “I will obviously do that,” but I can tell you it can be forgotten about – when you’re exhausted and caring for little humans, it’s hard to do this basic task. I won’t tell you how often I forgot to brush my teeth. But when I made sure to do, especially during the month after giving birth, I just felt better about myself!
2. Shower
This one is along the same lines as number 1. But I’ll be honest, your shower doesn’t have to be deep cleaning, shaving, washing your hair, super intensive. Even just throwing your hair up and washing your body off can be the best feeling in the world. I wash my hair every other day usually, but I love using the Batiste dry shampoo in between!
3. Face mask
Along with the other hygiene self-care ideas listed above, take the time to do a face mask! The best part about this is that you can put it on your face and leave it for several minutes! I personally prefer a mud mask over a sheet mask if I’ll be moving around, as I find the sheet masks end up slipping and sliding all over! I highly recommend the Freeman brand of face masks – I use the Sweet Tea and Lemon clearing mask (I used this one before my wedding!) and the Glacier Water and Pink Peony hydrating mask feels soooo good!
4. Drink a glass of water
Seriously, drinking a glass of water is so good for you. Take the time to drink some! Especially if you’re chest-feeding still, as it is so important to stay hydrated!
5. Just sit
Just take 10 minutes to relax into a chair or the couch. Literally just relax for a little bit of time. Just doing that feels so good, even just for 10 minutes!
6. Go outside
Take some time to go outside and enjoy some fresh air! Maybe check out your yard or flowerbeds – I do this often! Or go check the mailbox for the day. I also really enjoy doing this with my daughter as fresh air is so good for everyone.
7. Yoga stretches
I am a huge advocate for yoga. It has helped me so much in managing stress through college and my first years as an educator. So as I’ve been going through this transition into motherhood, I turned to it again to help me. I love Yoga with Adriene and this 10 minute flow for self-care is perfect! Plus yoga is a great workout that you can do as well!
8. Eat a treat
Hide somewhere and eat something you enjoy. It can be healthy if you want, but for me, it always involves chocolate in some form 😉
9. Online shop
Sometimes retail therapy is just really nice! Amazon is my favorite place to online shop, and there was a few weeks where Amazon was stopping by our house almost every day. Oops. No shame.
Hopefully you can start to incorporate one of these self-care ideas into your crazy days, as it is so important to take time for yourself. One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn when becoming a mom was that you can’t pour from an empty cup. If I take care of myself, then I can help my family with their needs. So don’t feel guilty putting yourself first, it’s actually what is best for your family!
