Kid-Friendly Backyard Ideas for Babies
Kids love water and having a water table for them is a great way to get them playing in it without being completely soaked… well, maybe. My kids usually end up dumping water on each other. I’ll be honest, I have bought the knock-off water tables, but ultimately ended up buying the Step 2 brand water table because it is great quality.
Another way to get babies in the water is a sprinkler. This is the sprinkler that we have, and it’s really great cause you can turn it on to be fairly gentle or even just turn it on to water the yard (and if the kids get wet, extra fun!).
There’s something magical about bubbles that babies love. I saw this Tiki Torch bubble machine and thought how fun it would be to have in a kid-friendly backyard!
Again, with the water! But as a mom of two, I know that having a pool is something I wasn’t comfortable with when my kids were babies. But having a splash pad is similar to a sprinkler, but cooler 😉
If your baby is still not moving around, I highly recommend getting a covered playpen or a portable bassinet to make sure they can be outside, but still protected from the sun!

Kid-Friendly Backyard Ideas for Toddlers

We have stepping stones and a balance beam for my kids right now, which they absolutely love playing with now that they’re moving and grooving. I really like that these stepping stones are stackable and easy to store.
My son got this bubble lawn mower for Christmas and it’s a huge favorite. Anytime he sees it, he drags it out to play outside.
I feel like having a baseball tee and setting up a baseball field is a right of passage as a kid. So don’t be afraid to set up the baseball field as a kid-friendly backyard idea!
For the movers and shakers toddlers, this individual trampoline is a great way to get them outside and burning some extra energy!
Kid-Friendly Backyard Ideas for Kids
Getting kids outside and playing sports is something that is important to our family. So having a kids soccer goal is a great way to practice kicking and playing outside. Plus the soccer goal is easy to take down and set back up again.
I absolutely love this swing and can’t wait until my kids are older so we can set this up on one of our trees!
Another great kid-friendly backyard toy is to have a jungle gym set up for them to climb around!
If you’re wanting to add onto the water play (on top of the sprinkler and splash pad), these reusable water balloons are a great addition to make your backyard more fun!
Kid-Friendly Backyard Ideas for Teens
As your kids get older, having a foxtail as a throwing toy is a great way to play outside!
Summer nights outside with a projector and a screen to watch movies, play video games, or anything else to project is a great kid-friendly backyard set-up!
Spikeball has been growing in popularity quite a bit, so having your own set to play is smart as a kid-friendly backyard toys.
