7 Adorable Montessori Floor Beds

When both of my kids were moving back into their rooms from bed-sharing, I opted to go with a Montessori floor bed set-up for them. Once we got it put together for my daughter, the first night I laid her in it, she had no false start. First time in 9 months. On the other hand, my son has false starts in the floor bed every night, but is fine when snuggled up with mom. The friendly reminder that each kid is different! However, if you’re looking into making the move, I found a few Montessori floor beds that I recommend!

Classic Montessori Floor Beds

The first Montessori floor bed is a classic bed – with the slats around it and a small opening to get in and out of it. It’s a great transition bed from a crib, especially if your kid was comfortable in their crib.

The next Montessori floor bed is made to look like a tent – which is the one that I have for my son. It is so cute and also super easy to transition him into once he falls asleep.

For my daughter, we have a super cute house shaped Montessori floor bed that she has loved since we got it. I put a garland around the top for some extra cuteness – but of course, make sure it’s out of reach for safety purposes if your kids are super young. The rail can make transitioning out of bed a little bit more difficult for the adults and we have to remind my energetic 4 year old to not hang on the frame. Montessori Floor Beds

As I was looking at floor beds, I saw this car Montessori floor bed and I just can’t handle it. I almost want to get rid of the tent one for my son and get this one instead since he’s obsessed with cars! Plus it comes in two colors as well!

If you like the house shaped bed, but don’t want the railing, I thought this Montessori floor bed was a cute alternative – with the house shaped headboard part. Plus with how open it is, it’ll be easy to transition for an adult, hopefully!

Alternative Montessori Floor Beds

If you’re looking for an extra floor bed or even want to have one in your room for the nights that the kids are struggling to sleep, this convertible sofa to floor bed is a great alternative Montessori floor bed to keep around.

Another option if you like to travel and your kids need a space of their own to sleep, there is this portable floor bed that folds and zips up to make moving it super easy.

Helpful Items for Transitioning to Floor Beds

Okay, so this item is really a need if you’re converting to a twin bed for the floor bed. You need a mattress. All the research I’ve done has shared that a firm mattress is the safest option, so I really liked this twin mattress. However, if you find a different one that you want to try out, don’t be afraid to get one, try it, and if it’s not the one or makes you nervous, return it!

If you’re like me and were transitioning from cosleeping, you probably still need to get a monitor for when your littles wake up in the middle of the night. These monitors have been super easy to set up and I like that I have a split screen so I can check on both of my kids throughout the night.

Not always a need, but don’t forget to get bedding at some point! After turning 1, generally babies and toddlers can sleep with bedding. But you know your kids!
