25 Getting Ready Songs

Getting ready in the mornings for work can be hard, especially if you like your sleep like me! However, I’ve found that if I have some great pump-ups songs on my morning playlist, it goes so much better. Here’s a list of 25 Getting Ready songs that I have on my playlist that pump me up – enjoy!

1. Beautiful by Bazzi and Camila Cabello

I love this song and how it makes me feel like everything is perfect. The combination of Bazzi and Camila Cabello is perfect, they compliment each other so well. Plus the beat that plays behind the lyrics is so calming and relaxing.

2. Bodak Yellow by Cardi B [EXPLICIT]

The first time I heard this song, I was chaperoning the Homecoming Dance. I turned to B, who was chaperoning with me, and go “What song is this?” Cause the students were going CRAZY over it! He makes fun of me for not knowing it, and then starts rapping along with it. So I went home and looked it up – and now I rap it all the time and my husband wants me to calm down about Cardi B – can’t stop, won’t stop, sorry babe.

3. Born This Way by Lady Gaga

This song came out in 2011 and was one of the greats created by Lady Gaga. It’s such an empowering song that makes you just feel so confident! I just dance in the mirror as I get ready whenever I hear this song.

4. Classic by MKTO

This song is so fun! It’s all about how you’re great the way you are and I love singing to it. There’s always a point where I end up dancing to it while getting ready and jamming out pretty hard!

5. Can’t Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus

When this song came out in 2010, I watched this music video so many times with my best friend. We were just shocked that Miley was breaking the mold of being a Disney star. Now, I have this song on my morning playlist as I feel it applies to me so much – always pushing for the hard decisions to be made, not fitting into the mold that society expects of me, and just trying to be different and myself. Just my daily reminder to do so!

6. Congratulations by Post Malone and Quavo [EXPLICIT]

When I hear this song, I usually just starting yelling “Now they only say congratulations!” Whenever it comes up in the song. The message of overcoming everyone’s doubt is so powerful and it makes me so pumped up for the day.

7. Feeling Myself by Nicki Minaj and Beyonce [EXPLICIT]

Nicki Minaj and Beyonce are some amazing female artists, how can you not love them together?! This song makes me feel so good. It makes me just… feel myself?

8. ***Flawless by Beyonce [EXPLICIT]

Would this post even be credible without some Beyonce? She has so many songs that are empowering and make you feel unstoppable. This is just one of many!

I woke up like this.

9. Formation by Beyonce

I am so mad that this song won’t play on Spotify – I absolutely love this song. It’s such an empowering song and the pride that Beyonce shows in her family history and how she shows that in the music video – ugh, yes.

10. Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys

Alright, I can’t lie. I fell in love with this song when it was featured on Glee way back when. But now, it has a closer place in my heart (the original) because one of Alicia’s songs was B and I’s wedding song. But this song is so strong and empowering, with the instrumental and beat, ugh. Plus Alicia’s voice is amazing, I could listen to it forever.

11. Good as Hell by Lizzo [EXPLICIT]

This song is such a strong example of taking care of yourself, being your best self, and putting yourself first. Plus the video is great to watch, with the band and dancers just enjoying themselves and believing the message!

12. Great One by Jessie Reyez

If you’ve ever seen Someone Great on Netflix (if you haven’t, stop and watch now, it’s amazing!), this song is in the promo and within the movie. The message of wanting to be your best for your family and recognizing the importance of family. I may cry sometimes to get my emotions out, especially if I’m having a rough day and I’m trying to turn it around.

13. Know Your Worth by Khalid and Disclosure

This song is all about recognizing how great and amazing you are, what else do you need to get ready and feel amazing while doing it?

14. Make Me Proud by Drake and Nicki Minaj [EXPLICIT]

I love me some Drake. And adding in Nicki Minaj. Sign me up. This song is about how a girl is working towards her goals and Drake just cheering her on. So I like to think Drake is cheering me on – thanks Drake!

15. Needed Me by Rihanna [EXPLICIT]

I’ve seen a tweet about how Rihanna made this huge transition in her music, from Stay to Needed Me, and that’s a change in message that I love. The message of not needing anyone, but being someone that someone needs is a great message to get ready to. Plus singing the scale down during “needed” in the chorus is fun.

16. Nobody Compares to You by Gryffin and Katie Pearlman

This song is one that I associate with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel, as it’s the song that plays during the promo. Even though it’s actually a break-up song, I really enjoy the beat and the feel of it!

17. No Limit by G-Eazy, A$AP Rocky, and Cardi B [EXPLICIT]

Whenever this song comes on, I feel unstoppable. It’s also on my workout playlist as I love the beat and the idea that there is no limit to what I can accomplish. I also think that Cardi b’s verse is pretty great, but I think Cardi B is an interesting person and love hearing her lyrics.

18. Nothin’ on You by B.o.B and Bruno Mars

If you listened to pop music during 2010 to 2011, you know this song. And if you’re tired of it, I’m sorry. I just love it! As a sophomore and junior in high school, knowing that boys were not that bad and there was a guy that would pick me over everyone else was so reassuring. Luckily, I have that now. And I still listen to this song, cause it’s adorable and the video is fun to watch!

19. Obsessed by Mariah Carey

Okay – this song is old. Like 2009, and about how Eminem was saying Mariah Carey and him were together. She tried to deny it, he completely destroyed her in a song in response. BUT ANYWAY – this song is amazing. I find myself dancing and singing to it no matter what I’m doing. Even right now, I have to pause in typing to do a little dance move.

20. Partition by Beyonce [EXPLICIT]

More Beyonce – how can you not have her telling you to be your best self in the morning? Seriously, she has so many great songs to empower anyone. This one is so strong and I love rapping with Bey in the morning too!

21. Run the World (Girls) Beyonce

Another empowering and amazing song by Beyonce that gets me pumped to tackle the day!

22. Shut It Down by Drake and The-Dream [EXPLICIT]

This is my favorite song by Drake. About just rocking it so hard that the world stops aka shuts down. It’s a go-to song for me when getting ready to conquer the day.

23. Truth Hurts by Lizzo [EXPLICIT]

The song that made Lizzo super popular – Truth Hurts. Whenever it comes on the radio, I crank it up and jam!

Yeah, I got boy problems, that’s the human in me. Bling bling, then I solve em, that’s the goddess in me.
