1. Fluorescent Light Covers

These are so amazing within a classroom, as they cover up the awful fluorescent light while also giving a whole change to the feel of your classroom. Not only does this change the vibe of your classroom, but fluorescent lights often give people headaches for lots of different reasons – which are outlined in this article by Medical News Today

I’ve seen lots of teachers opt for the blue ones, but I’m a sucker for the ones that have clouds in them! When I was looking on Amazon for more options, there are so many other options to check out as well – ones with affirmations, stained glass designs, trees, animals, etc etc. You’re bound to find some that match the vibe or theme of your classroom!

2. Lamps

I have a few lamps in my classroom and I absolutely love how they change the atmosphere of my classroom into being so much more homey. I highly recommend asking in your local free group, going to garage sales, or checking Goodwill rather than buying new! I was extremely lucky in getting mine from a co-worker that was getting rid of them from her house!

Even if they aren’t perfect, you can find new shades for way cheaper and use spray paint to refresh them! Add some warm colored bulbs and your room completely changes with this classroom lighting idea.

I also highly recommend these remote-controlled plugs to make turning on the lamps so much easier each day! Plus it’s like magic if you forget and randomly do it during class! I always surprise students when I turn them on during class without being anywhere near them!

3. Fairy Lights

When it comes to cost, fairy lights are by far the cheapest of the classroom lighting ideas on this list. I love having fairy lights around my boards within my classroom. To make sure that they aren’t too distracting, I make sure they aren’t set to flashing and just steady. To also make sure I don’t have to change the batteries all the time, I just turn them on once a week – usually Friday because thank goodness it’s Friday!

I won’t lie, they can be a hassle to set up around the board, but once they’re set up, I very rarely have had them come down. I’ve used tape, push pins, and wall glue dots – all have worked since they are so lightweight!

4. Northern Lights Light

This light is so fancy and fun to break out on a quiet and chill day! If it’s a reading day in class, I’ll have this out to give a really cool, calming feeling in the classroom. When it comes to this list of classroom lighting ideas, this one is super unique and one that I don’t see in other classrooms very often!
